Mission: Waikiki - The Plot Thickens

CONTINUED - from Part 1 of Mission: Waikiki

2 cars made to look like the A-Team van?!?! My mind reeled as I tried to comprehend how this could be. 1 faux A-Team Van - that I could understand. But 2? Something was going on underneath the noses of the people living in this fair city, as well as millions of tourists. Whatever it was, it wasn’t going to be an easy nut to crack. No doubt there was some kind of big plan being put together. And you know how those bad guys love it when a plan comes together.

I came back to life as the voice crackled again from the phone.

‘Plate? Plate? You there?’

‘Yeah, I’m here. I just got the wind knocked out of me for a moment. Are you sure about this information?’

‘We’re positive. One of our contacts heard it from a guy who lives behind the bus stop at Kaiulani Park. The same guy also told our contact that the CIA has bugged all the trash cans on the island as part of a plot to get rid of anyone who’s left-handed. We’re not sure why the CIA would do that but we’ve got a man looking into it right now.’

‘Sounds like you’ve got a reliable source. How do you want me to proceed?’

‘Find those 2 A-Team cars. Find out who’s behind them and what their intentions are. Are they friendly? Do they have any ‘overseas connections’? Will they be using the cars in local parades? Anything you can get.’

‘Alright. I’ll need an hour to wake up and get myself together. After that, I’ll hit the streets.’

‘Excellent, Plate. Thank you very much. Remember, though - if you’re caught or exposed, we will disavow any knowledge of you. At best we might admit that we lent you some money for gas. Otherwise, you’re on your own.’

‘I understand. I appreciate your honesty, even if it means my neck is on the line. I’ll give you an update as soon as I get something solid’.

‘Good. I’ll wait to hear from you. The cat in the hat.’

‘The squid in the shorts.’

I wasn’t sure why we had to give the sign/counter-sign when we finished. But that wasn’t important now. What was important was that I had to get to work. And I knew who just might know something about those cars.
